Inauguration and Commencement of the 1,500-Meter Canal Construction Project in the Fifth District of Herat Municipality by the Mayor of Herat and His Accompanying Delegation
The construction project of the drainage canal along the eastern side of the road, stretching from the Minarets area to Mawlana Abdul Rahman Jami (RA) Square, located in the Fifth District of Herat City, has been completed and officially inaugurated. The canal has a total length of 1,500 meters and was constructed at a cost of AFN 8,483,528 from the development budget of Herat Municipality.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Honorable Haji Mawlawi Hamdullah Nomani, Mayor of Herat; Engineer Mohammad Ayoub Saif-ul-Jihad, Director of Technical and Professional Affairs; the Head of the Fifth District; the Head of the Mayor’s Office; an Inspector from the Monitoring and Evaluation Department; tribal elders, representatives of local neighborhoods, heads of development councils, and a number of local residents.
During the inauguration ceremony, officials of Estwar Sazan Construction and Road Construction Company stated that the canal construction work was completed in accordance with technical standards within 25 working days.
Meanwhile, residents of the Fifth District of Herat City welcomed the completion and inauguration of the project, describing it as an important and necessary measure to improve environmental conditions, manage surface water, and prevent flooding. They considered the implementation of such projects effective in addressing citizens’ problems and emphasized the continuation of infrastructure development projects in the district.
