Initiation of social and technical surveys of urban areas to prepare a comprehensive and complete plan for the development of Herat city

The administrative meeting of the Municipal Office under the chairmanship of Gholam Hazrat Mushfeq, Mayor of Herat, was attended by the Deputy Advisory Board, Head of Technical and Sectoral Services, Commanders of Fifteen Urban Areas and officials of the "EU Support for Herat Municipality" program and attendees. They discussed the preparation of a comprehensive plan for the development of the city.

The European Union's support for the Herat municipality is based on Herat's comprehensive and complete urban database, improvement plans for 15 districts, study and comprehensive plans for the city's sewage system and surface water, process collection plans and municipal waste disposal, and packages. The complete information of the decades has been established for the implementation of the big development project and the presentation of beautification, identification and development perspectives of Herat city.

Gholam Hazrat Mushfaq, the mayor of Herat, said that the implementation of this program is vital for the general public in order to develop the standard and measured city of Herat. He said that the city of Herat should develop according to a clear and comprehensive plan, and without it, Herat would never develop a standard.
Expressing hope that the municipality will have access to such an opportunity, the mayor of Herat asked the district administrators to cooperate with the experts of this program together with the lawyers and local councils.

Meanwhile, Abdul Rahman Molavi Zadeh, Deputy Mayor of the City of Advisory Board, reminded of the existence of public problems such as lack of standardized urban sewage system, lack of specific mechanism for surface water control, lack of standard development of urban areas and such basic issues. He called on the Herat Municipality to work to create a plan to improve the city of Herat in accordance with basic needs and in a scientific and practical manner.

Meanwhile, EU officials assured the European Union's support for Herat Municipality that a comprehensive development plan for Herat would be developed within the next year, outlining the basis for standard development in Herat and the city's development outlook.
