Inauguration and Commissioning of the Drainage Canal Project Along the Southern Side of Mokhaberat Road at a Cost of Approximately AFN 3.5 Million in the Third Municipal District by the Mayor of Herat and His Accompanying Delegation

The construction project of the drainage canal along the southern side of Mokhaberat Road, located in the Second Gozar of the Third Municipal District of Herat City, has been completed and commissioned. The canal is 735 meters long and 0.9 meters wide and was constructed at a cost of approximately AFN 3.5 million, funded through the development budget of Herat Municipality.

The project was officially inaugurated by Al-Haj Mawlawi Hamdullah Nomani, Mayor of Herat, in the presence of Eng. Mohammad Ayub Saif-ul-Jihad, Technical and Professional Director of Herat Municipality; heads of the Mayor’s Office and Monitoring and Evaluation departments; officials from the relevant sections of the Third Municipal District; local elders; Gozar representatives; heads of development councils; and a number of local residents.

The project was implemented with the aim of improving surface-water management, preventing damage to roads, and enhancing urban infrastructure in the Third Municipal District of Herat City.

Meanwhile, a number of residents of the Third Municipal District welcomed the completion and commissioning of the project, describing it as an effective step toward reducing problems caused by surface water, improving road conditions, and enhancing the quality of municipal services.

Officials of the contracting company also stated that the project had been completed in accordance with technical standards and within the specified timeframe.

It is worth noting that the project was completed and commissioned over a period of more than two months by Hari Sikaram Construction and Road-Building Company.
