Herat Municipality Inaugurates Concrete Canal Construction Project from Bagh-e-Zanana to Darb-e-Malek

Herat Municipality has officially inaugurated and commenced the construction of a concrete canal extending from Bagh-e-Zanana to Darb-e-Malek in the ninth municipal district of Herat city, with a total cost of AFN 4,614,434 funded through the Municipality’s development budget.

The project is being implemented to improve surface water management, prevent damage to roads, reduce problems caused by waterlogging, and contribute to the development of urban infrastructure. The concrete canal will cover a total length of 790 meters.

The project was officially inaugurated by H.E. Al-Haj Mawlawi Hamdullah Nomani, Mayor of Herat, in the presence of Eng. Mohammad Ayoub Saif-ul-Jihad, Director of Technical and Professional Affairs of Herat Municipality; the Head of the Mayor’s Office; and a number of local residents. The project is being implemented by Aasman Sa Construction Company.

Officials of Aasman Sa Construction Company assured that the project would be implemented in accordance with established technical standards, with satisfactory quality and within the specified timeframe, after which it would be completed and put into operation.

Meanwhile, a number of residents of the ninth municipal district welcomed the commencement of the project, stating that its completion would significantly facilitate transportation for local residents. They further noted that the canal would help prevent water from flowing into residential areas, shops, and roads, thereby reducing problems caused by surface water.

The project is scheduled to be completed and put into operation within three calendar months.
